DeNiro wants his father’s paintings back - Nov 28, 2007
Robert DeNiro might begin a legal action against an Italian art gallery, after it allegedly took a number of the actor's father's paintings from a New York arthouse to settle a $5million debt. Twelve paintings by abstract expressionist Robert DeNiro Sr. were given to the Benucci S.r.l. by Salander-O'Reilly Galleries in New York as part of a deal to cancel the million-dollar deficit, reports TMZ.com. The actor didn’t know the agreement, and now is asking the return of the masterpieces, because he is the rightful owner.
